It’s Not Goodbye…
In the three years that have passed since this little corner of insanity came into being, I’ve met some fantastic people and had some great experiences. This has been a labor of love from the start and what has always made it worthwhile is getting to interact with all of you – debating with you, commiserating with you, celebrating with you, and sharing a love of Caps hockey with you.
All good things must come to an end, however, and it’s bittersweet to say that this will be my final post here in the Cheap Seats. It’s been a pleasure and an honor to keep this site going and I will certainly miss it.
The good news – or bad, depending on your viewpoint – is that you just can’t get rid of me that easily. No, I’m simply packing up my lunacy, my blind optimism and my love of Brooks Laich and heading across the internet to join the fantastic crew over at Japers’ Rink. Because someone’s got to be the weak link, and it’s high time they had one.
Basically I’m stepping in to be the Alexandre Giroux to their Alexander Ovechkin, if you will.
This site will stay up for the time being, both as an archive (you know you really want to go back and read the tale of the Magical Spearing Midget one more time) and as a potential rebound should the boys over at the Rink decide there are no girls allowed, after all.
To all of you who have commented or simply stopped by to read over the years, thanks for making this so much fun and such a great place to be! I know many of you are already a part of the great community they have over at the Rink – but for those who aren’t I hope you’ll join in the discussion occasionally and help keep me honest, as you always have.
So keep rocking the red…and LET’S GO CAPS!!
I must admit that this has always been my favourite caps blog, and that it will take some time to rid myself of the habit of checking here for updates. That being said, it was a relief to read that you are only moving and not leaving us completely. I look forward to continuing to read what you have to say on japers’ rink, and to getting Sidney crosbey’s fashion advice from you on Twitter (coordinate belt and purse to be edgy… Check). Good luck at Japers’ Rink!!!!!

I’ll miss this site. I always loved stopping by and reading about the Capitals with your awesome sense of humour.
Good luck, and Japers is getting more of a Mike Knuble-style free agent: goes to the net hard, scores in bunches, and is a solid veteran presence.
)
Check you over these, CapsChick! Take care!

Have fun with the boys – you are awesome and will catch you at the Rink! Hope to hear all about the Magical Spearing Midget after tonight’s bout

Your blog has always been my favorite and will be sincerely missed. You provide great insight and you always make the fans feel better when the Caps aren’t playing too well. You capture the spirit of the caps as a true fan – with heart and humor. Keep up the great work over at Jasper’s Rink.

Good luck at The Rink! Jaspers’ is definitely one of my favorite Caps blogs, what a great match.

Since I read Japers every day, it will be nice to see you there. If you had gone over to the dark side (On Frozen Blog), I would miss you horribly, since I can’t stand those smug jerks.
Have fun in your new digs.

NOOOOOOOOOOO! COME BACK!
Oh wait. You’re not leaving. Just moving. Phew. Okay *calms down and packs up bags and heads over to Japers Rink*

If I tried to respond to all of you individually this comment would be an epic poem (for a change…) so I’ll sum up my thoughts as such:
Thank you all for the kind wishes! Please, please, please be sure to comment now and then over at the Rink, if you don’t already, so I don’t feel so homesick
Oh, and Jacob…Twitter fashion advice is always available, my friend. Just remember, collar up. Crosby says.

Yay! and Boo at the same time. I love reading your blog, and I loved those Hockey Questionnaire o’ Dooms. (: I didn’t just have fun filling it out, but I loved reading everyone else’s answers.
Then again, I guess I’m glad that you’re going to an excellent blog and one that I read daily.
Also, I’m happy you’re keeping the blog up. You never know; they could decide to turn it into a He-Man Women Haters Club, and you’ll have to come back. (;

Congrats CapsChick,
I’ve always loved your take on things and look forward to reading you again after this shakedown in the blogging industry!

Congratulations! Looking forward to seeing your stuff over at Japer’s. I guess my computer will be happy with one less page to load.

I’m sorry to see you won’t be an “independent” blogger but I’ll have fun reading your stuff at Japers’.
I really enjoyed your Questionnaires in this past off season and the solicitation for nicknames during one of the previous off seasons. I hope to see them brought back at Japers’. (I would like to see a 1 or 2 questions at a time and see what the answers from the fan community are.)
I love your picture of Semin on this blog. (Must admit to being a Semin fan since I have a daughter like him in many ways. In many ways, the friendship between him and Ovi reminds me of one of my daughter’s friendships. BTW, that friend is only 6 days younger than Ovi.)
From one female hockey fan to another. It isn’t farewell. It’s just a relocation.

Your blog is my favorite Caps blog and I will miss it. You are such a good writer and I loved your sense of humor — the player nicknames was the best. Will look for you over at the Rink.

You know that we will all follow you wherever you go. Luckily, I don’t have to go too far since you are only 2 seats away! Pillage, plunder, and take no prisoners. You will Rock the Red at Jaspers!

Good luck at japers, though I’ll certainly miss the Cheap Seats.

Who the hell is Japers? Wait, I’ll be right back…………………Seems like a nice site. Kinda flashy though, I like Cheap Seats. Reminds me of the balcony at the Mellon, Japers is like the uppity slobs at the uh hum Igloo Club.
Oh, well. At least I have somewhere to tout the greatness of, come on say it with me, Crosby. LOL LOL LOL. I crack myself up.
Anyway, It was a pleasure to “talk” to ya here CC, and I will be at Jaspers to keep the world of Capitals hockey abreast of the goings on in the ‘Burgh.
Thanks For The Memories,
John

I’ll be sorry to delete your feed from my news reader. But luckily, I have Japer’s Rink in there already. I’ll watch for your posts!
Comment by garbage_goal — October 31, 2009 @ 4:06 pm
John: You’ll like Japers’ Rink – all the snark of the Cheap Seats but with way more talent. Definitely be sure to swing by…although I promise there are more people to offer kind-hearted retorts about Sid over there than over here
And to the rest, thanks again for the well-wishes – your comments are making me feel like this was 3 years well spent! Hope to see you all at the Rink and at the rink soon
