Calling Shenanigans
Far be it for me to pound one subject into the ground like this, and I would never ever suggest that something was amiss with the oh-so-secure All Star Game voting…but here’s what the leaderboard looked like last night:

Anyone else getting the same or is it just me? Somehow Alexander Semin’s total, which I know was over 60,000 before I went to bed, has miraculously dropped.
Funny how no one else’s has…

And the NHL hasn’t removed the hinky votes for the Habs, either. I can’t imagine 207,164 people wanting Alex Kovalev to start the all-star game…!

unfortunately, i think semin’s commments pissed off daddy bettman and now he is never going to get a break like the rest of the top players or a fair treatment. i have noticed several penalties (highsticking, tripping, etc.) taken on semin and in front of the ref’s and he doesn’t get the call. and now there is this crap. go figure.

they’ve added an extra layer of ‘protection’ in the voting process… you have to now type in a series of letters before your vote counts… it’s about time they did something about it!! they should’ve known something when was up when there were over 100K votes for some people before the first DAY was even over…

With Bettman in charge, credibility went out the window back in the 90s. And only NOW they add the extra layer of protection? There are some BLOGS out there that require that just to post comments! The NHL online voting is a sham and an embarrassment.

I totally that they should just start over! I mean, the ASG is normally a popularity contest but this year the whole thing is out of control…I guess just keep voting for Ovie–>Semin won’t get in because of his Crosby comments unfortunately even though he’s been one of the best player’s in the league this year…

you know, i had thought i noticed that, and then just assumed i was hallucinating from being over-tired. pffffft. as if the whole ‘voting’ thing didn’t already cause me to roll my eyes.
also, you should hear some of the people at the Wings boards about the 6 digit numbers being referred to as “Habs voting shenanigans”, haha. you would never be involved in anything like that, would you, CapsChick?! ah well, “vote early, vote often” : )

It really funny you mentioned this because I’ve been voting throughout the day and looking at the results and the EXACT same thing happened to me. His total went down from 67,000-ish to 65,000.
