Uh Oh…
Need a reason to vote for the All-Star Game? Need a little inspiration? Some fire under your britches, if you will? Check it out:

Ouch.
Now don’t get me wrong. We all know that a few computer geeks in Montreal have all but spoiled the fun for the rest of us and none of these guys, barring a league intervention, will be in the starting lineup. And as much as I snark at them, Malkin and Crosby are having (almost) as successful seasons and deserve to go to the ASG (almost) as much as Semin and Ovechkin. In fact I’d bet that all four will actually be there regardless of how the “voting” finishes.
But come on, Caps fans, let’s make a statement here! As petty as it may be, as small and silly as it seems, bragging rights like this can only be good for a fanbase that has too long been mocked by the Steel City.
Speaking of mocking…Pens fans? You’re embarrassing yourselves with this idiocy:

Look, I’m as homerish as they come – no one would argue that fact and I proudly admit to it. But there are limits to even my homerism. For example, I didn’t vote once for Olie Kolzig when he miraculously appeared on last year’s ballot because frankly at the time he didn’t deserve it.
And he wasn’t injured.
Meaningless exhibition game or not, I don’t know how you waste a vote on two guys who, while maybe (maybe) worthy when healthy, have yet to play a single regular season game this year. It’s a joke that they even show up on the ballot.
But to vote for them? It’s frankly beyond me.
I voted twice tonight and have voted several times previously. The NHL finally added the feature where you have to type in the displayed letters and numbers to prevent computer generated votes (a little late and the vote totals don’t appear to have been adjusted to throw out the Habs computer script votes). I’m doing write in for two Caps along with Ovie, Semin and Green so voting takes a while, which is why I am not sure how many more times I am going to do this. I believe that the NHL should also limit how many times you can vote from the same IP address during the course of the voting.

unfortunately, i think crosby will always win out when it comes to voting online. i mean when you look at the 2 different players, Crosby and Ovie, whose fan base do you think is more likely to sit in front of the computer all day and vote for their favorite player. also i am a believer that the personality/characteristics of a person’s favorite player reflects a little bit about that fans personality as well. so i fully invision tons of crosby fans with nothing better to do than sit and vote for him all day long.
plus i find that the montreal fanbase really likes ovie and his style of play more, but ovie is not going to get any of their votes because they are too busy voting for all their players. boo.

The NHL has also put in the limitation that you can only vote once per minute…to save time I just keep voting for Ovie ;D It’s pretty obvious that no one is going to catch the Habs and Crosby will get more votes from casual fans because he is the golden boy…though I’m pretty sure Pens fans are stuffing the ballot box too the way Crosby/Malkin’s vote totals have jumped the past couple of days…
